
We allow people to overstep our boundaries, take on more than we can handle and put the needs of others before our own.
While we may worry that others will think less of us – and indeed it may seem less hassle to bite back a ‘no’ – in the long term these bricks of silence accumulate and build a wall of resentment, fatigue and dependency around you.
So next time someone asks you to do something you don’t want to, prepare yourself for a momentary grumpiness on their part and rest assured that valuing yourself enough to say no gets easier every time.
