That is where prioritising comes in. It is taking a metaphorical highlighter pen to your life and focusing on those things that matter most to you, at this time.
The last 3 words of that sentence are the most important, because your priorities will shift over time, and if you don’t acknowledge this then you may again find yourself with scattered and ineffective energies.
For instance, if you are due to complete a 10km charity run in a fortnight then training will most likely feature high in your priority list, but the week after the run it will be no longer be on there.
Realistically, it is wise to concentrate on no more than 3 priorities at a time. What those are is an entirely individual decision, so take a moment to appraise your life and decide right now what your top 3 priorities are for the next month. Is it your career? Relationships? Health? Finances? Fun? Holidays? Friendships? Family? The list is endless.
With these priorities at the forefront of your mind, you will find it much easier to be selective about what you spend your time doing, because activities will either support and align with your priorities, or they will go against what matters to you at this time.
Continue to re-assess your priorities on at least a monthly basis – keeping the ones that are still relevant and swapping the ones that aren’t – and before you know it, you will find yourself feeling more energised, achieving greater success, and living the life that matters to you.
