So, how can it be done? You have work commitments, a home to run and children to look after not to mention trying to catch up with friends and exercising whenever possible….it can all be too much!

Spending time on what you wear can end up way down on your “to do” list. And yet, we all know that how we look has a major impact on how we feel. Here are just a few suggestions on how to look fabulous even when time is short:

  1. Pay attention to hair, face and nails. These really do make the most impact. Whatever time and budget is available should be invested in these areas. A great hair cut needn’t be high maintenance and a simple, natural make up will help to disguise the effects of sleepless nights
  2. Jackets and coats are a must – your clothes can be plain and simple but top them with an eye catching jewel coloured trench, for example, and no one will ever know what lies beneath
  3. Invest in a fabulous bag – large enough to carry nappies, wet wipes and an emergency change of clothes but that doesn’t mean it has to lose any style points. Look for a colour that inspires you and it will instantly lift your look
  4. Don’t forget to accessorize. Yes, really – we are not talking lots of fuss and frill but one or two pieces that you LOVE. Define your style personality with dramatic and bold, quirky and creative or classic and elegant
  5. A flattering pair of dark denim jeans are a must have item. They will take you from day to office to evening and everything in between. Oasis “starlet” jeans are a great shape for curvy girls as are Gap’s “long and lean”. It can take several attempts to find the right ones for you but it is worth the effort. I suggest buying more than one pair when you do find “The One” – and even a pair each in black and white
  6. Don’t avoid skirts and dresses because you think they just aren’t practical. Opaque tights are truly a god send as are knee-length boots. No need to worry about less than perfect legs or snagged tights. Every girl should have at least one dress that makes them feel fabulous and is suitable for any occasion
  7. Know your colours – it really does same time and money. What is more, they don’t change according to age, shape, size etc. A colour consultation is worth every penny…and more!
