Looking Fabulous!

Looking fabulous is very much a part of being fabulous…

But does this mean spending huge sums of money on designer clothes, manicures and handbags?

Absolutely NOT!

It’s about knowing who you are, defining your “image personality” and then projecting that in a consistent and authentic way. It is more often a question of spending time rather than money.

Here are my top tips to get you started:

  1. Create a “style” board full of images that inspire you. This can be pictures, fabrics, photographs – anything you like. It can include clothes, interiors, places, gardens – again, anything that reflects YOU.
  2. Analyse how you spend your life at the moment – work out approximate percentages. From this you will see what you need your clothes for.
  3. Look at your current wardrobe – does it reflect your lifestyle? Do you always have the right outfit for each occasion or are there times when you struggle?
  4. Invest some time in trying everything on. Chances are you are wearing the same 20% due to time constraints and lack of confidence in the other 80%. Discard anything that no longer fits, that you don’t like or that is past its best.
  5. Identify the gaps. Do you struggle with weekend smart/casual looks for example? Do you need individual items to complete outfits or do you need to purchase 1 or 2 complete looks?
  6. Now you have a clear plan of what you need, set aside some time to shop. Choose a location that makes a pleasant day out (i.e. Windsor, Guildford or Oxford) if you can’t face a crowded shopping mall. Stick to the plan and resist buying anything that is a duplicate of something you already own.
  7. Don’t forget the footwear. Footwear really does make or break an outfit and can change it from contemporary and stylish to frumpy in an instant.
  8. If you are in need of a quick confidence boost the resist the urge for a last minute panic dash to the shops. Chances are you will already own something suitable. Spend the time and money on getting your hair and/or nails done. Face, hair and nails get noticed MORE than your actual clothes.
  9. Make a list of 3 or 4 outfits that you know make you look and feel great. Use this when time is short.
  10. And finally……be confident. Focus on your assets – we do all have them. Forget what you don’t like about yourself. Remember, most women will be too busy feeling self conscious about their “bad bits” to even notice yours!!
