Many of us are moving away from the corporate world and are starting businesses teaching others what we have learned through our own experiences.

We believe in our product and love what we do. We can tap into our intuition to help us with this. Many sales techniques were developed prior to this service orientated way of working. In my opinion, Selling with Heart suits people who want to work this way. Of course we need to make money, but we want to do so in a way that honours who we are. We want to be successful by staying true to ourselves.

We know how to help the people who have the problems we have experienced ourselves. We can offer the solutions that will help them to overcome their blocks and to attain their goals. I believe that we are connected in some way to the people we are here to help, and that our service is not only valuable to them, but can enhance our lives too.

So what is intuition?

Intuition is outside of our five senses and is often referred to as our sixth sense. It is an inner voice that guides us. Intuition is most commonly referred to as a ‘gut feeling’ or ‘gut instinct’.

Listening to your intuition isn’t always easy. It can mean changing your way of life, stepping out of your comfort zone and taking action based on your heart rather than your head.

If your intuition is buried so deep that you can hardly hear it whisper, you may not be able to make a decision confident in the knowledge that it is totally right for you. Sometimes in the beginning you have to weigh up all the options, listen to your intuition, then make the decision and let go of any attachment to the outcome.

Try this:

  • How does your body feel when your intuition is trying to tell you something?
  • What thoughts/feelings/physical sensations can you remember?
  • What was the result the last time you listened to your intuition?

You can strengthen your intuitive signals by becoming more aware of each occurrence. To start with, you may wish to keep a record of any intuitive guidance you receive and a record of each time you act, or don’t act, on its signals and what happens as a result.

All of the women that I asked to do the above exercise found it really hard! Intuition can be such an involuntary part of our decision making process that we aren’t even aware of it. However, it can also be the case that we’ve stopped listening to our inner voice and so any intuitive signals we receive are so faint that we can hardly hear them whisper. So I would urge you to do the exercise and see what it tells you.
